The final fugitive indicted in the assassination of former Chilean Ambassador Orlando Letelier was arrested on charges that he triggered the 1976 car-bomb slaying. Virgilio Paz Romero, 39, was apprehended after a tip was telephoned to a Customs Service agent. Paz was identified after a re-enactment of the assassination last week on the television program “America’s Most Wanted,” said William Gavin, FBI chief in Miami. Paz allegedly worked under the direction of the Chilean secret police agency DINA, which sought to eliminate the former ambassador as a leading critic of Gen. Augusto Pinochet’s military government.
