‘Why Do Critics Love Those Repellent Movies?’

Alfred Hitchcock said: “Go ‘Boo!’ to a baby. First it’s frightened, then it laughs. Human beings love to be frightened.â€

Both Benson and Farber have forgotten Hitchcock’s “then the baby laughs .†Anthony Hopkins gave the audience a great deal of humor in his interpretation of Hannibal the Cannibal.

Please remember that laughter is a gift from the gods, no matter what form it takes. In this truly horrific world, we need more sophisticated “boos.†“Lambs†delivers them. Few films do.
