A 19-year-old Sylmar man was shot to death Wednesday night at a Pacoima gas station in what police describe as a gang-related shooting.
Jody Cooper was standing at the rear of his car, filling it with gas, at the station in the 12700 block of Van Nuys Boulevard at 9:20 p.m. when rival gang members drove up and shot him several times, Los Angeles Police Detective Frank Bishop said. The assailants, who drove a white Cadillac and a yellow Buick Regal or Oldsmobile Cutlass, then fled.
Cooper died at the scene, Bishop said. Police said a suspect had been arrested, but gave no details. Two others were being sought.
