All-American Honors Given to Pomona Players
For the first time in school history, Cal Poly Pomona has placed players on the NCAA Division II All-American team in men’s and women’s basketball in the same season.
Senior forward Terry Ross was selected to the National Assn. of Basketball Coaches Division II All-American second team in men’s play and senior forward Stephanie Coons was chosen to the Kodak Division II All-American team.
Ross, who also made the All-West Region region team for the second season in a row, averaged 23.4 points and 9.4 rebounds to lead the Broncos into the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. postseason tournament for the first time. He finished his Pomona career as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,156 points.
Coons, who was previously selected as CCAA player of the year, averaged a team-leading 15.7 points and seven rebounds. She is the 13th Pomona player in the past 10 seasons to earn All-American honors.
