COUNTYWIDE : Tax Break Urged for Gulf Troops

Ventura County military personnel who served in the Persian Gulf War would be exempt from any late penalties for not paying property taxes on time this year under a resolution to be considered today by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.
The board has also been asked by state Assemblyman Rusty Areias (D-Los Banos) to allow farmers who suffered crop damage during the December freeze to postpone payment of their property taxes without facing a penalty.
