CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : 4 Are Finalists for Chancellor Post
- Share via
The search for a new chancellor of the 20-campus California State University and Colleges system is down to four finalists, but their identities will not be revealed until the first week of April, Cal State Trustee J. Gary Shansby, chairman of the search committee, said. Because reference checks are not finished and some of the four have requested confidentiality for a while to deal with matters at their current jobs, Cal State officials will not release the names until April 1 or 2, Shansby said. Trustees are scheduled to interview the finalists on April 4 and select a chancellor later the same day. The new chancellor will replace W. Ann Reynolds, who was forced out last year in a dispute over pay raises for herself and other top Cal State executives. Ellis E. McCune, former president of Cal State Hayward, has been acting chancellor but is not a candidate for the permanent post.
