Cal State Long Beach will eliminate its swimming, diving, golf and tennis teams because there isn’t enough money to sustain them, Athletic Director Corey Johnson told the athletes involved in those sports.
The cuts will help the university meet a directive to trim $14 million from its budget by July 1 because of Gov. Pete Wilson’s proposed budget for 1991-92, which reflects significant losses in state revenue.
