AFTERMATH OF WAR : First Flight

Kuwait Airways made its FIRST SCHEDULED FLIGHT to the tiny emirate after service was halted seven months ago by the Iraqi occupation. The Boeing 727 left Cairo at 1 a.m. local time with 90 people on board, headed for Kuwait city via Bahrain. Runways and buildings are still heavily damaged from the war. “We wanted to operate a bigger plane, but the runway isn’t ready to take them,” a spokesman said.
