AFTERMATH OF WAR : Reapplying for Jobs
Labor Secretary Lynn Martin reminded the more than 200,000 RESERVISTS returning from the Persian Gulf War that they can REAPPLY FOR THE JOBS THEY LEFT BEHIND with the support of the Labor Department. Martin said the Veterans Re-Employment Rights Act, on the books since 1940, will be enforced to protect returning service personnel. The law provides that reservists are guaranteed their old jobs or an equivalent job; the reservists need to reapply within 90 days. Martin said complaints can be made to the Labor Department by calling 1-800-442-2VET.
