Freedom Sells 10 Weekly Papers

Freedom Newspapers Inc. in Irvine has sold 10 of its Highlander weekly papers in the San Gabriel Valley to Thomson Newspapers Inc. for an undisclosed sum.
Thomson publishes the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and 121 other U.S. daily newspapers and 41 Canadian newspapers.
The Highlander papers were part of the Golden West Publishing firm that Freedom bought last April for nearly $20 million from Media General Inc.
Golden West continues to operate 12 other weeklies, including two Highlander papers, in Orange County.
