Boudreaux has really beaten the bushes to denigrate Chamorro; heaven forbid we should allow a “kinder and gentler†leader in Nicaragua. The great conciliator, indeed! That’s exactly what the United States doesn’t want; she works altogether too well with the Sandinistas, which are anathema to Washington.

Doesn’t it appear just a wee bit strange that Boudreaux nowhere mentions that Washington has not sent Chamorro the promised aid she so desperately needs to resettle the Contras? This goes way beyond the foot-dragging, as my congressman defines it; it’s obviously a well-designed policy to destabilize that government so a coup will be acceptable and the far-right Virgilio Godoy will be put in.

Can’t they see that the Sandinista supporters will not stand for this and that civil war will erupt again? Then we can shrug it off with our usual stereotyping: “Oh, those people are always fighting among themselves.â€

Who really pays Richard Boudreaux? He sure sounds like a CIA plant.
