Calabasas Names Pratt to Lead Track Program
Phil Pratt, who has coached track, cross-country, football and gymnastics in the City Section, has come out of retirement to head the track program at Calabasas High.
Pratt, 61, retired from Reseda High in 1986 after working 33 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
“I just felt like coaching again,†Pratt said. “(Coaching) is a lot better when you’re retired and don’t have to teach five periods a day.â€
Pratt coached B football and gymnastics at North Hollywood from 1958-61 before switching to L. A. Wilson, where he guided the cross-country and track teams until 1980.
After serving as Verdugo Hills athletic director from 1956-58, Pratt initiated the track program at L. A. Trade Tech College in the spring of 1958.
