Surfer’s Day in Court

The story on the depredations of Bart Matthew Larson is the worst case of irresponsible, short-sighted, unbalanced reporting we have seen in years.

We were glad to see that the courts still have the courage to reverse themselves on occasion; that was worth reporting. But the silly, simpering story by Alan Abrahamson shows the same lack of maturity as Mr. Larson does in the way he laughs at society’s rules.

Sixty days to raise $24. Still, maybe that’s about all he could earn in so short a time.

Mr. Abrahamson laughs with him as he flout authority, and encourages every other teen-ager to raise his middle digit in youths’ current victory sign, and go and do likewise. Is Mr. Abrahamson over 19?

But The Times is worse than all of them. You gave it space on B1, and that in competition with a bona fide National Hero such as Danny Thomas.
