PLACENTIA — A 19-year-old man who was shot in the chest Wednesday night as he stood outside his stalled car on Orange Freeway was identified as Melvon Harris of Upland, police said Thursday.
Harris and a friend had just returned to their disabled 1989 Mazda on the southbound side of the freeway when a man emerged from some bushes alongside the freeway, police said. Harris was shot by the man at about 9:30 p.m. after an argument.
The attacker fled on foot, and Harris was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday.
