The California Highway Patrol has broken ground on a new Westside office.
The new headquarters will be at 6051 Centinela Ave., at Bristol Parkway in Culver City, just east of the San Diego Freeway. The 14,000-square-foot office will replace a leased facility, built in 1968, at 4520 S. Sepulveda Blvd.
“The CHP has simply outgrown the current facility,” said Capt. C. W. Campbell, commander of the CHP’s West Los Angeles Area section. The facility is expected to be completed by October, Campbell said.
The West Los Angeles Highway Patrol employs 103 workers, 86 of whom are officers. It has a fleet of 27 patrol cars and 23 motorcycles and is responsible for patrolling the San Diego Freeway, the Santa Monica Freeway and about 200 miles of county roads.
