SOUTHERN SECTION GIRLS’ BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS : DIVISION I ROUNDUP : Trotter’s Late Jump Shot Caps Rally for Santa Ana Over Paramount, 45-44

Cynthia Trotter’s 15-foot jump shot with two seconds to play gave the Santa Ana girls’ basketball team a 45-44 victory over Paramount in a Southern Section Division I-AA qualifying game Wednesday at Paramount.
Santa Ana trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half before tying the score, 22-22, at halftime and, 30-30, after three quarters.
Paramount then built a 10-point lead, 42-32, with 3:50 to play. But Santa Ana scored 13 of the game’s final 15 points.
Trotter scored all seven of her points in the quarter for the Saints (9-14).
Suzy Mendez had 13 points for Santa Ana. Shanika Porter had 23 points for Paramount (12-10).
In a Division I-A game:
Huntington Beach 59, Anaheim 41--Amber Ambrose scored 16 and Jennifer Johnson and Jana Davis each scored 12 points for host Huntington Beach (20-8).
