THE SIDELINES : Executive Leaves the Yankees

NEW YORK — George Bradley, the vice president of baseball operations with the New York Yankees, has announced he will leave the club.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Yankees, Bradley and the club “mutually agreed to end their working relationship effective immediately.”
With Bradley’s departure, General Manager Gene Michael assumed control of the team.
“There was no absolute reason for it,” Michael said. “I had been thinking of it for some time. I felt it would be smoother this way, much more effective. We streamlined our operation.”
Bradley, hired in October, 1988, spent most of his time with the Yankees working out of the team’s minor-league complex in Tampa, Fla.
