BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Newport Harbor Surprises No. 3 Tustin

Newport Harbor High School made 17 of 21 free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter and upset third-ranked Tustin, 50-46, in a Sea View League boys’ basketball game at Newport Harbor.
The loss dropped Tustin (20-4, 7-2) into a first-place tie with Woodbridge. Tustin plays host to Woodbridge Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the final league game of the season.
Huy Nguyen of unranked Newport Harbor (13-11, 5-4) scored a game-high 22 points, 18 in the second half. He also made six of eight free-throw attempts in the final quarter. Justin McIntee (10 points) made five of six free-throws attempts and Mark McAnlis (12 points) made four of four tries in the fourth quarter.
In other Sea View League games:
Woodbridge 81, Saddleback 64--Ryan Rauch scored 26 points and Mike Fenton had 14 for visiting Woodbridge (17-8, 7-2 in league).
Corona del Mar 78, University 62--Jon Upham had 31 points and seven rebounds for host Corona del Mar (12-13, 5-4).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 67, Whittier Christian 65--Brian Bedford scored 19 for visiting Orange Lutheran (11-12, 9-4).
Brethren Christian 47, Capistrano Valley Christian 33--Jermaine Forge scored 10 points for host Brethren Christian (19-5, 10-3) and Jeff Jennings had 11 for Capistrano Valley Christian (3-19, 1-12).
In the Academy League:
St. Michael’s Prep 97, Heritage Christian 65--Junior Jocques Wright scored a career-high 47 points, including five three pointers, and Jon Grobler added 30 for host St. Michael’s (6-13, 3-4).
