Israeli Gunships Attack PLO Bases

SIDON, Lebanon — Israeli helicopter gunships attacked Palestinian guerrilla bases in south Lebanon today as the Lebanese army deployed in the region, hoping to gain control over the area used by rebels to stage assaults on Israel.
Four Cobra helicopters fired a 10-minute burst of rockets into guerrilla positions in the Apple province, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman said one guerrilla was killed and two others were wounded in the raid, Israel’s second in as many days against the Palestine Liberation Organization.
