BIKIN’ SAFARI: Richard Cunningham, who makes off-road bicycles by hand (D5), has his doubts that all those bikes seen atop automobiles in the county actually get ridden. Cunningham says that, as with surfboards 20 years ago, some bikes get strapped on the roof by youngsters who want to look hip. . . . Even those who do ride the bikes probably won’t stick with it for too long, Cunningham says. “It’s just not new and cool anymore,” he says.
