A Glendale man was arrested after he allegedly fired several shots into a car driven by a Los Angeles Police Department cadet early Monday morning on the Foothill Freeway in La Crescenta. Dagoberto Barajas, 28, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held without bail at the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station pending arraignment.
Gretchen Carnes, 22, was driving east on the Foothill Freeway near the Glendale Freeway interchange at about 4:30 a.m., when a blue, 1986 Honda CRX pulled alongside her, sheriff’s spokesman George Ducoulombier said. Carnes, who attends the Police Department academy in Elysian Park, began to slow her car to get away from the Honda. The driver fired four or five rounds, Ducoulombier said, striking her car 1987 Ford Mustang four times.
Carnes was not hit by the gunfire.
