World IN BRIEF : SRI LANKA : Officials Say Attack Killed 25 Guerrillas

Helicopter gunships killed 25 Tamil rebels during bombardment of a fortified hide-out in the jungles of northeastern Sri Lanka about 170 miles northeast of Colombo, the capital city, military officials said. There was no immediate statement from the Tamil Tiger guerrillas, who have been fighting since 1983 for a separate homeland for their ethnic minority.
