THE GULF WAR: The Battle Front : Refugees
The U.N. Disaster Relief Organization said that as many as 80,000 REFUGEES from Iraq may be converging on Iran to escape allied bombing raids. Talks with relief officials indicate the refugees could arrive within a few days at the border crossing point of Shalamcheh. Meanwhile, in Tehran, an Iranian official said 1,000 refugees--believed to be mostly expatriate Palestians and Asians--had arrived since the war began.
