P.M. BRIEFING : U.S. Beer on Moscow Menus
NEW ORLEANS — American beer has arrived in the Soviet Union. New Orleans’ Dixie Beer has become the first American brew sold commercially in the Soviet Union, according to the trade magazine Beverage World.
“We understand that the Russians know all about New Orleans, and Mardi Gras and jazz, and the Dixie is selling very well,†Dixie owner Kendra Bruno said Thursday.
“We sent several hundred cases of long-necks for the initial intro,†Bruno said. The beer, marketed through International Beer Traders of Brighton, England, is being served at the Tren-Mas Restaurant in Moscow.
