HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Royal Slogs to 2-0 Victory Over Agoura
In a Marmonte League soccer match Friday afternoon that Royal High Coach Peter Schraml described as “more mud wrestling or a water polo game than soccer,†the visiting Royal boys sloshed to a 2-0 victory over Agoura.
“The playing conditions were pretty bad because of the rain,†Schraml said. “People were slip-sliding all over the field.â€
After playing Royal, seventh-ranked in the Southern Section 4-A Division, to a 0-0 tie in the first half, Agoura saw its upset hopes begin dimming when Royal’s David Sassano scored three minutes into the second half on an assist by Jody Rehl.
Dan Morris drilled a line drive into the upper-right corner of the net for Royal’s second goal.
Royal (10-1-2 overall, 2-0-0 in league play) will meet Marmonte power Simi Valley today.
