Suspect Is Held in Fatal Shooting

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday after a quarrel involving seven people in a taco shop parking lot in Chula Vista.
Tory Dean Burdex, 25, a self-employed landscaper from Albuquerque, N.M., was shot in the back as he ran across the street from the group in the 400 block of Broadway, Chula Vista police said. Burdex died at the UC San Diego Medical Center at 2:38 a.m.
Corey Eugene Barnes, 21, was arrested at a residence on 38th Street in Lemon Grove based on witnesses’ information and a weapon that was recovered, police said.
