Apparently the Reagan-Bush tradition cannot coexist with moral decency. The “Education President,” whose followers sanctimoniously assure the poor and underprivileged minority young people that they will be helped to pull themselves up by their own efforts and diligence, now stomps on the hopeful fingers on the rungs of the ladder of achievement with his respectable Republican boots.
The Reagan-Atwater-Willy Horton-George Bush alliance is back in action. Hold your nose; the next presidential election campaign may smell worse than the last--if that be possible.
