World IN BRIEF : MOROCCO : 87 Sent to Prison for Strike Violence

Moroccan courts sentenced 87 people to prison for up to seven years for rioting during a general strike called by labor unions earlier this month, officials said. The sentences were the most severe so far in dozens of trials following the Dec. 14-15 unrest in Morocco that killed at least five people. Fez suffered the worst violence. Rioters there attacked hotels, post offices and a police station.
