Thelonius Monk: Straight, No Chaser (CMAX Sunday at 1 p.m., Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.) Charlotte Zwerin’s 1988 documentary refreshingly breaks the trend of downbeat films on jazz artists and has no apparent objective except that of presenting an honest, superbly crafted audio-visual portrait that mixes footage old and new.
