Bart Morefield confirmed Friday that he will be named baseball coach at Agoura High on Monday.
Morefield, an assistant with the Chargers the past two years, was chosen among three finalists for a job vacated when Gary Gray resigned last spring. The other finalists were former Thousand Oaks assistant Matt Goldfield and Brian Maloney, a finalist for the baseball coaching position at Westlake two years ago.
Morefield, 27, is in his fourth year as boys’ soccer coach at Agoura. He is a 1982 graduate of Agoura, where he earned two varsity letters in baseball, and he has coached baseball at the school the past six years.
Morefield said Friday that his assistants will be Gray and John Gillette, an assistant last season.
