Moorpark’s special election to fill an empty City Council seat left vacant by Paul Lawrason, who in November became the city’s first elected mayor, has begun to generate interest, with four candidates taking out election papers.
Cheryl Zemont and John Roberts, both former parks and recreation commissioners, and Roy Talley Jr., Planning Commission chairman, have declared their candidacy. On Thursday, papers were pulled by Paul Childers, a Moorpark resident.
The deadline for filing for the vacancy is 5 p.m. Dec. 28 at City Hall. The special election will be held on March 5. The winner will fill the last two years of Lawrason’s term, which will end in November, 1992.
