COUNTYWIDE : Secretary Who Quit Schaefer to Return
- Share via
County Supervisor Madge L. Schaefer’s secretary, who resigned last week partly because of another worker’s dismissal, has accepted the supervisor’s offer to return to work.
“I needed some time off and I recouped. . . . I have a family to take care of,” said Carol Claassen, who is scheduled to report back to work today.
Claassen resigned a week ago partly to protest Schaefer’s dismissal of staff member Doug Johnson. Schaefer had ordered Johnson out of her office after discovering that he had agreed to work for her successor, Maria VanderKolk.
“She was really caught in the middle,” Schaefer said.
Schaefer, who lost to VanderKolk in June, will leave office Jan. 7.
