On the Outs With Inns
I wonder if any of your readers have had the same experience that we recently had on our first trip to Vermont.
We had read several B&B; guidebooks about the wonderful innkeepers, crackling fires and the spread at tea time. We had an entirely different experience. Grumpy desk clerks; stuffy, overheated rooms; no tea; rushed meals in the dining rooms, and refusal to have fires in the fireplaces. We were amazed and disappointed. Our worst experience was at The Inn at Long Last in Chester, Vt.
Vermont itself was beautiful and we met many friendly people in small shops and restaurants, but the inns were a real disappointment.
