Bush Pens Defense of Gulf Buildup

WASHINGTON — President Bush, stung by complaints that he has failed to adequately explain his massive military buildup in the Persian Gulf, is writing an article for Newsweek on the reasons behind his policy, White House and Newsweek officials said Thursday.
It will appear in next week’s edition, which will be on newsstands when Bush is visiting U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia.
