Opera Pacific has received a $100,000 grant from William H. and Barbara Roberts of Newport Beach to help underwrite Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly,” Jan. 12-19, at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa and on Jan. 22 at the McCallum Theatre at the Bob Hope Cultural Center in Palm Desert. William Roberts, an entrepreneur in computer technology, is a member of the board of directors of Opera Pacific.
Blow Up, an alternative music publication that covers the Orange County/Long Beach rock scene, will celebrate its second anniversary with an evening of acoustic performances and poetry readings, Friday at 8 p.m. in the Bohemian Cafe at Bogart’s in Long Beach.
