Tustin 42, Woodbridge 3--The Tillers’ easy victory at Irvine High completed the first undefeated regular season in the school’s 68 years. It also helped fulfill one of Tustin Coach Marijon Ancich’s missions.
“My goal was to get Tustin football out of the depths so that when people drive by the school, they’ll know it’s not all orange groves out there,” Ancich said. “I want them to know we play football here.”
The Tillers (10-0, 5-0 in league) will be the Sea View League’s top seeded team in the Division VI playoffs Friday.
Visko Ancich gained 153 yards and scored three times in 23 carries, and backfield mate Ron Goods ran for 121 yards in seven carries, including a 73-yard touchdown run. Tustin also scored on a three-yard pass from Andy Borza to Josh Belden.
Woodbridge (2-7-1, 0-4-1) scored its only points on Brian Nurick’s 27-yard field goal in the second quarter.
