SAT SCORES

Scholastic Aptitude Test scores at most high schools in Ventura County were up this year, when 2,194 high school seniors took the exam. Last year 2,311 students took it. The Educational Testing Service exam judges math and verbal skills and is used to gain entrance to many four-year colleges and universities. “Either instruction is improving or the kinds of kids we’re getting in the 12th grade are better students,” said Chuck Weis of the Ventura County superintendent of schools office.
