Youth organizations that use city parks in Covina will have to pay lighting costs, half in advance, the City Council has decided.
The council Monday unanimously approved a policy holding youth organizations responsible for lighting. The policy requires teams to pay back costs as well as 50% of the next season’s cost, which will be estimated based on bills from the previous season. The city will pay maintenance expenses.
City officials said two private organizations that use Hollenbeck Park have failed to pay lighting bills. Covina Pony Baseball owes $8,284 for two seasons, and Covina Vikings Football owes $1,652 for one season, the officials said.
