Leland Sparks, a fifth-year senior at Mater Dei High School, will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, Monarch Coach Bruce Rollinson said Monday.
Sparks, a defensive back and wide receiver, was injured Thursday in Mater Dei’s game against Bishop Amat. Rollins said Sparks injured his medial collateral, a ligament in his knee, and might face reconstructive surgery.
“The family was going for a second opinion tomorrow (Tuesday),” Rollinson said. “Right now, it looks like more damage than we originally thought.”
