2 Planes Violate Airspace, Iraq Says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Two enemy aircraft entered its airspace from Saudi Arabia on Saturday morning, Iraq charged Sunday.
The official Iraqi news agency INA quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying the two planes flew three miles inside Iraqi airspace before turning back. It did not say whether they were fired at or intercepted by Iraqi jets.
Since the Persian Gulf crisis began with Iraq’s capture of Kuwait on Aug. 2, Baghdad has reported several violations of its airspace by aircraft believed to belong to the U.S.-led forces deployed in the gulf to defend Saudi Arabia and other gulf Arab states.
