Officer on Call Hurt in Traffic Accident

A Ventura police officer, en route to a shooting with his red lights flashing and siren blaring, was injured Friday when his vehicle struck a pickup at West Stanley Avenue and California 33, police said.
Officer Jeff Theis was transported to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment and later released. The driver of the truck, Joseph Kerwin, 54, of Ventura, was not injured in the accident, police said. An investigation is pending into the cause of the accident.
