POINT MUGU : Controlled Burns to Cover 1,500 Acres

The Ventura County Fire Protection District plans to conduct controlled burns this week on a total of 1,500 acres in the Broome Ranch area and in the La Jolla Canyon Valley.
To control vegetation, fires will be set on a 1,000-acre area of the Broom Ranch at the west end of the Santa Monica Mountains, east of the Point Mugu Naval Air Station. Another 500 acres will be burned in La Jolla Canyon Valley in Point Mugu State Park.
Fire crews will be setting the blazes Monday to Friday.
