The city plans to implement three- and four-day workweeks to comply with Air Quality Management District guidelines to cut down on commuting.
Starting Sunday, police patrol officers will begin working three 12 1/2-hour days each week, said Jacci McKenna, West Covina’s personnel analyst.
Beginning Jan. 1, she said, other city employees will have the option of working four 10-hour days, or four nine-hour days. If employees choose the nine-hour-a-day shifts, they will be required to work a fifth day of eight hours every other week.
The City Council unanimously approved the program Monday.
