Guard Keith Smith Is Cut by Lakers

The Lakers waived free-agent rookie Keith Smith, a guard from the University of California, reducing their roster to 13 Tuesday.
One more player must be cut by Thursday. Coach Mike Dunleavy will choose between veteran forward Tony Brown, free-agent rookie forward Irving Thomas and guard Tony Smith, a second-round draft choice.
Keith Smith played in three exhibitions, games, making four of six shots. The Lakers will open the season Saturday against the Spurs at San Antonio.
