COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Women Upset Riverside in Volleyball

Debi Waller had 30 kills and 17 digs to lead Chapman College to an upset of UC Riverside, the No. 2-ranked women’s volleyball team in Division II, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match Tuesday at Chapman.
Rena Strange added 18 kills as 14th-ranked Chapman (16-9, 1-1) won, 15-7, 15-7, 14-16, 9-15, 15-11.
In Big West Conference water polo:
Cal State Long Beach 7, UC Irvine 5--It was the second consecutive Big West Conference loss and fourth loss in five games for the Anteaters (8-8, 1-2). Mike Burke scored four goals, including three in the first half, as Long Beach built a 5-1 lead.
Goalkeeper Duff Harold had 20 saves for the 49ers (4-7, 2-1).
Skylar Putman, Mark Herman, Tom Lowrey, Jay Warren and Steve Gill each scored for Irvine.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
Christ College Irvine 6, Caltech 0--Aaron Clasen and Rodney Nelson each had two goals and Matt Richards and Kris Schneider each had one for visiting Christ College Irvine (2-9).
