PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : San Clemente Takes to the Air to Win 4th Game

San Clemente High School’s football team finally got off the ground Friday night. Quarterback Kenny Dolan threw for 175 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tritons (4-1) to a 35-21 victory over host San Diego Madison. It was the Tritons’ fourth consecutive victory.
Dolan, a 6-4, 195-pound senior, completed eight of 12 passes in the first half for 105 yards and three touchdowns. He connected on touchdown passes to tight end Shane Shanafelt and wide receivers Morgan Bannister and Scott Meairs as San Clemente built a 28-7 halftime lead.
San Clemente’s running game also was effective. Fullback Mike Glismann rushed for 63 yards in 16 carries and tailback Bannister, who caught five passes for 76 yards, rushed for 47 yards in eight attempts.
Dolan also rushed for a touchdown early in the second quarter to give San Clemente a 14-0 lead.
In other nonleague play:
Brethren Christian 35, Cathedral 0--Quarterback Brandon Stott threw for three touchdowns and David Nelson intercepted two passes, returning one for a score, to lead undefeated Brethren (5-0) in a game at Millikan High School in Long Beach.
Stott, who had 13 completions in 23 attempts for 237 yards, also passed for two successful two-point conversions and kicked an extra point. Laguna Beach 32, Coronado 7--Morgan Lanchantin completed 12 of 17 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns to lead Laguna Beach (2-3) to a nonleague victory. Laguna Beach had 452 yards in total offense, while Coronado (2-3) committed six turnovers on fumbles. Quarterback Adam Smith was 9-12 passing for 137 yards for Coronado.
