A parade with more than 100 entries and a lifeguard rescue-boat race are two events in the Port Hueneme Harbor Days today and Sunday.
The parade will include the Camarillo White Horses, several small-scale Model T Fords, a Roman trick horseman who rides standing on two horses and seven high school bands, said Harbor Days chairwoman Penny Wolcott.
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Surfside Drive and Ventura Road. It will proceed up Ventura Road and turn onto Hueneme Road.
At 2 p.m. Sunday, lifeguards will compete in a race using two-person rescue boats on a two-mile course that begins and ends at the pier.
A softball tournament will be held at Moranda Park and a beach festival at Hueneme Beach on Saturday. Sunday’s events include a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at the VFW Hall on Surfside Drive, a sand sculpture contest at 9 a.m. and kite contests, including a kite tail-chasing contest for 3-to-6-year-olds at 11 a.m. on Hueneme Beach.
