Women and Emmys

Re the Sept. 17 Emmy Awards article by Rick Du Brow headlined “ ‘L.A. Law,’ Danson and Falk Take Top Emmys”:
At least now I know. “Top honors” go to best series and best actor in a comedy series and best actor in a drama series. After that comes best actor in a miniseries. Emmys are also given to the best actress in the above named categories. Silly me. I was laboring under the misapprehension that women might also be considered “tops.”

Du Brow replies that his article was organized solely on the basis of news value: “Ted Danson and Peter Falk were mentioned first because it was Danson’s first Emmy win in nine tries and Falk won in a revival of a famous series, ‘Columbo.’ Candice Bergen and Patricia Wettig had both won Emmys in their same roles within the last two years.”
