Maritime Celebrations Planned at Two Ports

A festive mood will pervade Port Hueneme and Oxnard this weekend as the two communities hold annual celebrations.
The 36th Annual Port Hueneme Harbor Days will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Hueneme Beach, Ventura Road and Surfside Drive.
The weekend includes a parade on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., arts and crafts exhibits, carnival games booths, pony rides for the kids, entertainment and plenty of food and drink.
Featured events will be a sand sculpture contest and a kite-flying demonstration.

Oxnard’s fourth annual Maritime Days also takes place on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and will be held at Channel Islands Harbor, marking the 25th anniversary of the port.
Participants can view classic yachts and enjoy schooner races, arts and crafts booths, a chowder cook-off and more. A full schedule of entertainment, including children’s events, is available.
