NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Money Launderer Gets 12-Year Term

A Colombian convicted of funneling cocaine profits into a $32-million global money laundering ring was sentenced in Tampa, Fla., to 12 years in prison. Gonzalo Mora Jr. was considered a key player in a complex ring involving the Bank of Credit and Commerce International and six men associated with it. One was Manuel A. Noriega’s one-time personal banker. Mora pleaded guilty in January to money laundering conspiracy and 33 specific money laundering acts.
